Zoological Museum in Capannoli

The Zoological museum in Capannoli is located in the ground floor of Villa Baciocchi. The museum is composed of five rooms, it exposes taxidermied animals: invertebrates, birds, reptiles and fishes from all over the world.

The museum exposes over 1400 exemplaries of fauna.

Some rooms proposes environmental reconstructions with dioramas, it exposes tigers, bears and lions.

Museo Archeologico della Valdera in Capannoli

The museum is located in Villa Baciocchi in Capannoli and it is composed of five rooms which propose a guided archaeological tour about Valdera’s history and revolution:
1- Prehistory in Valdera;
2-Etruscan in Valdera: settlement;
3- Etruscan in Valdera: necropolis;
4- Roman Valdera;
5- Middle Age in Valdera.

The museum collects archaeological material from excavations in Valdera. The exposition is enriched from a series dioramas of some settlement types.

Museum of the Work and rural civilization in San Gervasio

Museum of the Work and rural civilization in San Gervasio is located inside a 1600 restructured house. It houses hundreds of objects like tools, utensils, and agricolture machinery used by Tuscan farmersin the last two centuries.

There is also a big library and its documentation centre, available on application, collects papers  from 1800.

Outside there is an ancient windmill and some thresher from the last century.

The museum offers an interesting guided tour with a lot of labooratories for children and students.

Museum of Civiltà Contadina in Montefoscoli

In basements and tunnels there is the Museum of Peasants Culture. The agricultural activity into the properties of Vaccà-Bellinghieri’s family has given the possibility to collect large quantities of utensils which date back to the 16th century.

In the cellar, the mill or other places you can relive the emotions of a simple life, in touch with nature. This is a commemorational museum through material testimoniances of daily objects.

With booking there are guided tours for child and students.

The centre collects documents and material about Andrea da Pontedera’s art and school and more in general about 13th and 14th century: books, photos, videos, posts, essays etc.

Centro per l’Arte Otello Cirri

The Centre for the Arts Otello Cirri of Pontedera’s  municipality, inaugurated in January 2003, takes its name from a famous character for artistic and politic activities for the town, becoming Mayor from 1946 to 1951.

The centre’s cultural address is oriented on the theme of art history, valorizing with many exhibitions the Tuscan heritage.
A permanent exhibition takes place at the centre. Its is a photo collection by Brunero Tognoni, which donated to Pontedera’s municipality in 2010 almos 100 objects from 1800 until now.

Casa museo Vaccà-Berlinghieri

At PalazzoVaccà it is possible to visit the house-museum of Vaccà-Berlinghieri’s family, an extraordinary example of  1800-farming families’.

In the beautiful rooms there are objects and furnitures from that period, you can breath the familiar atmosphere of popular persons who helped to make the local history through material testimonies who tell us Bellinghieri’s participation to many events, such as the French Revolution.

Museum of Palazzo Pretorio in Peccioli

The Museum of Palazzo Pretorio in Peccioli houses Museo delle Icone Russe “F. Bigazzi” that, inaugurated in 2000, has become a place of preservation from over the 200 artworks exposed: some collections are Bigazzi’s and Belvedere’s,.

The museum is enriched from the collection of Incisions and Lithographies, a 2006 donation from Vito Merlini: 279 papers between incisions, lithographies, woodcuttings and serigrafie that he has collected.

Palazzo Pretorio simbolize the politic power and during the centuries, this has become the main exposure in Peccioli through a comparison.
Belvedere’s collectio, unique in its genre, presents wooden icons from 18th-20th century derived from the orthodox world. They show the date, the sign or a dedication.
