The place was known for the presence of\u00a0sulphurous vinegary waters, they are very utilize for the\u00a0care of rheumatisms.<\/p>\n<p>The hamlet is far 7\u00a0km from the administrative center and it is far 40\u00a0km from Pisa.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>HISTORY<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The hamlet was known in the medieval era for the presence of\u00a0<i>Bagno a Baccanella<\/i>,\u00a0puddle of \u00a0cold sulphurous waters. The waters were described by Giovanni Targioni Tozzetti in his\u00a0<i>Relazioni d&#8217;alcuni viaggi fatti in diverse parti della Toscana<\/i>\u00a0of 1751<span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">, he has documented the presence of a little lake, it called &#8220;pozza&#8221;, it was very used for the care of various pathologies: in the same way the doctor Andrea Vacc\u00e0 Berlinghieri was usual to use the waters for the care of skin diseas, rheumatism and arthritis. The original nucleus of the hamlet\u00a0lead back to the presence of a tavern, a dive from which the place name.
